Kids Try Cocaine at Elementary School

According to AOL News, a fourth-grader brought cocaine to his/her school and shared it with classmates. This all occurred at Thomson Elementary School in Washington D.C. Teachers called an ambulance after the children began showing symptoms after snorting and ingesting the drug.

Officials are not sure where the fourth-grader was able to obtain the cocaine but it is reported that the students are feeling better.

This type of incident has never happened at the elementary school before and a father of a student who attends there was shocked. Counselors have prepared to bring this issue up to the entire school, in hopes to educate and prevent this situation from happening again.

President Obama and the first lady were actually recommended sending their daughters to Thomson Elementary because it is considered one of D.C.'s most accomplished schools. The president and first lady settled for Sidwell Friends School.

Drug use seems to be becoming a more and more casual topic influencing kids of all ages. TV shows, like MTV's Jersey Shore and Skins are showing more people abusing drugs and alcohol, glorifying this behavior and showing that its fun. Its sad that hearing this news isn't extremely shocking because you hear about it everyday.

COMMENT! Do you think that TV shows are influencing today's youth in experimenting in drugs? Where do you think the fourth-grader was able to obtain the cocaine? Should the school be held responsible for not supervising the students?
